EU General Data Protection Regulation Infographic
New data protection legislation, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), is due to come into force in in May 2018. Developed to streamline existing EU data protection laws and increase protection for personal data of EU citizens, the new legislation will affect organisations on a global scale. Any organisation collecting or handling the personal data of EU citizens will need to be able to demonstrate compliance, regardless of whether it is based within the EU or outside it, leaving no doubt that many businesses in South Africa will need to comply.
